It is difficult to predict how long a laptop battery charge will last because each computer user has different habits and needs. But if you begin to notice that your Dell inspiron battery is not lasting as long as it used to, then you may be able to improve its performance by re-calibrating it. Most computer companies like Apple and Dell recommend that laptop users calibrate their batteries every couple of months in order to keep them functioning properly. Laptop batteries will run out quicker as they get older, but re-calibrating can improve battery health.
First connect your laptop's power adapter to the computer. Plug the other end into a standard electrical outlet. Charge your Dell inspiron battery until the screen indicator says that it is fully charged. Allow it to run all the way down until the computer shuts off automatically. Do not plug your laptop into the power adapter even if you receive a low battery warning. Once the laptop battery has fully drained, plug your laptop back into the power adapter and leave it connected until the battery is fully charged again.
Re-calibrate your battery every month or so by fully charging, fully discharging, and then fully charging again. Basically to have a chance to re-calibrate your laptop battery is to turn off all power-saving features completely and then fully recharge them. If it doesn't work for the first time then try two more full discharges and recharges.
The above way of re-calibrating the Dell laptop batteries works well with laptops using Ni-MH cells. But not with laptops using Li-Ion batteries because deep discharges will actually decrease the charge capacity and lifespan of Li-Ion cells. Moreover Li-ion batteries irreversibly lose approximately 20% capacity per year from the time of manufacture at a typical 100% charge level at 25deg.C, even when unused. That is every deep discharge cycle decreases the capacity of the Li-ion batteries. As the Li-Ion batteries are chemical in nature, charging and recharging is not going to fix the problem once the chemical reactions stop happening. Therefore the best advice for re-calibrating the Li-Ion batteries is to store the battery at 40% charge if it kept unused for any unlimited period of time. Also don't leave your battery in the laptop if you don't use the battery or if you plug the laptop into outlet power.

Why computers do not boot properly frequently?

The solution to this problem is shown below:
There are various possibilities of this occurring such as,

1.Hard disk corruption: If your system doesn’t turn on, the first thing you got to do is to open your CPU and check whether the hard disk is connected properly to the mother board. If it is then we have to confirm that the wires are working properly, so try replacing the wires and check if the system starts .If not then surely the hard disk is corrupted.

2. Memory: If the memory is faulty then, a beep sound is heard whenever we try to boot it. We can check it by changing the memory stick which is on the motherboard .If it works after changing the memory stick then its confirmed that the memory was faulty.

3. Processor: If the above two are working properly, then the next option to check would be to check the processor of the system. We have to replace the processor with another one to just check whether the processor used was faulty or not. If the new processor works then it means that the old one was faulty.

4. Virus: The system can be affected by virus which results in corrupting files which are needed for booting systems. Hence the system doesn’t boot always. The only solution for this problem is to update the antivirus if there is an antivirus in the system or install an antivirus which is an updated version. Once installed we need to scan the system, which will fix the problem.

5.Device drivers: Installation of the wrong device drivers will result booting problems, hence when installing a device driver the user should be able to confirm that the device driver that is being installed is the correct version for the system. We can confirm the version by checking it online, where all the details of the driver software is given.

6.SNMP: The SNMP is the device which powers the system ,if there is any problem in that then the system will not start. To check whether its working, we need to see whether the fan on the CPU is working and then check if the green light next to the SNMP is on or off.

Generations of Computer

The development, in computers hardware and software, since the invention of first electro-mechanical, has been categorized in the following generations.

(1) First Generation (1942-1955)
          The first generation was started 1942 with the invention of Mark-I computer. Computer in this age were based on vacuum tube technology. Hundreds and thousands vacuum tubes made the size of computer very large. Besides that the tubes emitted tremendous heat and caused in breaking of the tubes and replacing them frequently. Despite these drawbacks, these computers made a smooth pavement towards structure of computer.

(2) Second Generation (1955-1964)
          In second generation vacuum tube were replaced by transistor technology. Transistors were smaller in size that’s why it reduced the size of computer and also the cost reduced upto a reasonable level. Computer in this age were able to calculate data in milliseconds.
          Beyond the many advantages, still there were some problems with size, cost, and air conditioning environment of computers. UNIVAC-II, EDVAC, IBM-1401 are the famous computers of that age.

(3) Third Generation (1965-1975)
          Computers in this period were based on integrated circuits (I.C). The development of I.C is the result of solid state technology. Thus the size of computer shrank more then the previous systems. I.C is basically the collection of many electronic circuits on a single silicon chip. These computers consumed a less amount of energy, produced less heat. Also they were capable of using High-level languages. But still Air-conditioning and High technology for I.C were required.

(4) Fourth Generation (1975-1980)
          Fourth Generation is the most enormous generation because it yielded  “Microprocessor” which possesses thousands I.Cs at a single ship. Thus the size of computer was limited only to the top of a table. Micro computers or personal computer were introduced commercially in this period.
          Computers at Fourth generation were smaller in size, cost heat and electric consumption. Their speed was much more then that of previous. Now, computers were not special purpose but they were general-purpose.
For Example: IBM-PC.

(5)    Fifth Generation (1980-Present)
          Fight generation mainly focuses on software developments much more work is conducted in the field of artificial Intelligence (A.1) Robotics, Natural Languages processing (NLP).
          The engineers concentration was mainly focused on the idea to make computer think, analyze and generation inferences. Also, computer should behave like Human Experts like Doctors, Engineers, Teachers translators, Psychologists, ect. As a result much more experience and work is put to operation.
          Still there is much work expected to be conducted in the field of ANN or Artificial Neural Network. In this way computer would be able to respond to physical changes in environment and expose good results of like that of Human.

Digital computers on the basic of physical size, cost and word size have been categorized into the following four classes.
  1. Mainframe Computers,
  2. Mini Computers,
  3. Mico Computers,
  4. Super Computers.

1.   Main frame Computes:
            Mainframe Computers are large Computers that accommodates a large room. These are power Computers which are equipped with hundreds of processors that’s why, they have very fast processing speed with a word size of 64-bits. Their memory is gagabytes and has a speed of 15 neno-seconds per instruction.
            Mainframes are expensive Computer, which are designed to support 100 to 150 terminals with the services of time sharing, multiprogramming and virtual memory.
            Mainframe Computers are normally used in hug businesses, Universities, Banks, Scientific Laboraties National & International markets.
EXAMPLES: IBM 4381, ICL 2900, NEC 610 etc.

2.   Mini Computers:
            As Compared to Mainframes, Mini Computers are smaller in size, speed, memory and weaker in performance. These are equipped with several processors and thus can support upto 20 terminals. They use a bus line of 32-bits and can access data in 75 neno-seconds. Basically Mini systems were used for Networking. Besides that, these computers are commonly used at research Institutions, Airports, Colleges and Business Institutions successfully.

3.   Micro-Computers:
            Micro-Computers are also called personal Computers or simply (PC). These are the smallest Computers that we see around. They can be commonly seen at homes, offices, Educational Institutions, small business and designing agencies, where they are used for data processing activities. These Computers are cheap and easily available at market.
            Micro-Computer are portable Computers are and they can be placed from one place to another with easy. They are available in Desktop, Towers, Laptops, Palmtops or even in PDF version.
            They Computers are highly flexible and the success of their market and size is the Mico-processor, a Silicon chip containing all the circuitry to perform arithmetic/logic operations and 1/0 operations.

4.   Super Computers:
            Super Computers are the most powerful of Computers available today. These Computer are very difficult to design and requires complex circutory and development research. That’s why these are very expensive and their sale potential is only 30-50 machines per year.
            These Computer solve scientific problems and Calculations and thus called “Number Crunchers”. They can Calculate 400 million instructions per second which are accurate upto 14 decimal places.
            As these machines are designed to solve scientic and engineering problems, therefore a special language “FORTRAN” is used with them and thus sthey are also called FORTRAN ENGINES.
            Super Computers, on the basis of its power and versatility, are used in Neuclear research laboratories, Weather fore costing, Weapon designing and Oil exploration.

The word “ Computer” is derived from a Latin word “ Computare” which means “ to Calculate” More formally computer can be defined as: It is an electronic machine that receives input as data, process it into a meaning full from, and generates information as output.


BRIEF HISTORY OF COMPUTERS

It has always been a keen desire of human being to make his work easy to do. So, man was busy inventing different machines. In case of ease in Calculation the first attempt was made by Chinese.
v     Chinese developed the first computer of history (ABACUS),  3000 BC.
v     In 1617 John Napier made his first or first every mechanical Calculating device as Napier Bone.
v     Blaise Pascal, in 1642 made his mechanical Calculator which was smarter in operation then Napier Bones.
v     In 1801 Jacquard invented his machine, named Jacquard Loom. This machine was using punched card for creating pattern on a loom.
v     In 1803s Charles Babbage is conceived first programmable computer known as Analytical Engine. Analytical Engine could perform mathematical Calculations using punch card. Thus Charles Babbage is termed to as “ Father of Computer”.
v     Dr. Herman Hollerith developed first electro-mechanical punched card Tabulator in 1890.
v     The first Analog Computer was invented by Dr.Bush in 1930.
v     In 1942-44 H.Aiken at Harward University mode the first electro-mechanical Computer in assistance of IBM company.
v     In 1948 Transister was invented, which reduced the size and cost of Computer to an extant.
v     In 1970s large Scale integrated developed, using this technology, further microprocessor was made which shrunk the size of Computer and now Computer was available commercially.
Gradually, developments were made both in software’s and Hardware’s and today Computer is more general purpose to solve our every day problems.
